Position: Retail Associate

Reports to: Retail Manager

Summary: Provides retail and administrative assistance by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following:

● Projects a positive attitude to customers and employees at all times.

● Provides outstanding and courteous customer service.

● Follows the safety guidelines and safety programs established by Brubaker Grain.

● Assists in maintaining retail inventory and shelves, places orders with vendors as requested.

● Answers telephone, receives and processes customer orders.

● Communicates with manager and mill staff regarding any issues or updates on customer orders.

● Enters information into computer to prepare orders, invoicing, rations, receipt of payments, and

other documents.

● Weighs and grades incoming and outgoing loads of feed, grain, and chemicals.

● Prepares bank deposits and end of day. Reconciles any discrepancies between cash and receipts

and reports to supervisor immediately.

● May be asked to create grain contracts and mail to customers.

● Inputs relevant customer information into Brubaker Grain’s computer system.

● Loads customers as necessary.

● Operates forklift in a safe and efficient manner.

● Takes deposits to bank if requested.

● Promotes the business with existing and potential customers.

● Performs other duties as directed by manager and as needed.

Qualifications

Must be able to perform each job duty successfully.

Education &/or Experience

High school diploma or GED preferred; or minimum 3 years related experience &/or training, or equivalent combination of education & experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to customers and other employees of Brubaker Grain.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Computer Skills

Knowledge of Database software, Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Driver’s license

Physical Demands

Employee is required to stand regularly; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel: reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and taste or smell. Employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee must occasionally lift &/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception & ability to focus.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
